VISUAL ARTIST SUVI NURMI

The key words of my artistic practice are site-specificity, participation and text. My works are mostly text-based installations in public space, site-specific sound works or communal events in which the audience can participate. I always work in relation to a site and often also in collaboration with a local community.

Even when I'm dealing with serious or political themes I tend to keep my projects playful and easy to approach. There are often many layers found in my works, and the viewer can decide how deep they want to dig in.


I graduated as a visual artisan from Hyvinkää art school in 2004, and in 2005 I started my studies in the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts on the department of site and situation specific arts. I graduated as Master of Fine Arts in March 2011. I have also studied literature, Finnish and education in Helsinki university.
