Visual artist Suvi Nurmi

The basic elements of my artistic practice are site-specificity, participation and text. I'm inspired by words, observations and memories and the various processes of creating texts. I always work in relation to a site and often also in collaboration with local communities. My art is based on words, but the execution might vary from installations, sound pieces or short films to communal workshops.

I started my studies in the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 2005 and chose the department of site and situation specific arts. I received my MFA degree in 2011. I have also studied literature and Finnish language in the University of Helsinki, and graduated as Master of Arts in 2020. Nowadays I also work as an author and editor.
